Doncaster
PRIME is working as part Success Doncaster, which is the LEGI programme coordinated by Doncaster City Council. LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) is a government programme designed to transform areas of particular disadvantage by unlocking the talent of their people and encouraging enterprise.
For those over 50s still at the early stages of thinking about whether self-employment is for them we are offering workshops to explore their ideas. For those further along the start-up route more practical events give guidance on particular business topics, such as managing money and the use of computers.
Success Doncaster also aims to introduce self-employment to a range of different types of people, not just the over 50s, with PRIME providing the over 50s component. Doncaster Chamber and The Princes Trust are the other main partners.
PRIME’s target is engage with up to 340 potential start-up businesses in Doncaster over the two years of the project. As a result of our intervention we hope up to 50 new businesses will start to trade, including 10 big enough to register for VAT.
