How you can help - please give us money, or give us your time
The scale of the demand from people over 50 who find themselves in a workless predicament is huge. Around a million people are in our target group. So we know that putting on enough workshops, providing enough mentoring and even printing enough booklets is always going to be a challenge.
Please help PRIME any way you and your company can.
As an independent charity, we depend on the money we can raise to provide services and - when necessary, campaign. The money we receive from individual members of the public and in sponsorship by firms is particularly useful. Though funding from sources such as government contracts pays for much of what we do and is greatly appreciated, it is often quite properly subject to rigid restrictions in how it can be spent.
This leaves many things PRIME’s Trustees would like the charity to do underfunded. Programmes that have proved successful in one place can’t be made available in another when we can’t find the resources to cover the gap, producing PRIME’s own version of the postcode lottery that afflicts many public services.
Fortunately this is where the public and people working in businesses can come to the rescue - with either money or time. Yes, money is now very tight - but volunteers can greatly extend the range of what we can do to help the newly self-employed.
We are particularly keen to find volunteers with small-business experience, as they can make great role models and mentors. Yet even volunteer mentoring programmes require some money to cover materials and expenses.
So help PRIME any way you can.
